Living in Color

I'm always inspired by creative furniture.
These pieces stand alone for their use of color and inventive shape.
I love how they capture a movement in some form.

wedding inspiration...

While I've been busy working on the wedding details,
I am also collecting inspirational images along the way to help me decide a color palette, theme, and the style I want to include! It's kind of like preparing to design an interior of a room! So of course I love it and can't get enough of
the little details...
My first inspiration board!

Before & After

I did a couple quick projects over spring break week on an old small bookcase
for my office and a couple of side chairs... I absolutely love what a little paint can do!

Design Break...

Last Thursday I took the day off to visit Chicago & explore design shops that I have been wanting to see for awhile. It's important to see what is available around you locally!
Here's what I found...
First stop Revision Home in West Town- Owner Katie Ernst has a wonderful collection of vintage pieces. It is definitely worth a stop to take a look. Call to make an appointment. There will also be a May show coming up with new inventory. I will follow up with those details. Here's the set of chairs I have on hold to use in my dining room? They are in their original state & I love the white leather!

Next Stop Andersonville- White Attic they have amazing refinished pieces. So if you are looking for a fun colored vintage chest or dresser, this is your place! They reminded me what a little paint can do. They also have a fun "lamp bar" where you can mix n match bases and lamp shade fabrics.
Next to White Attic is Scout a little shop filled with industrial utilitarian pieces, classic vintage furniture & interesting accessories. It has a nice vibe & is worth seeing.
Brimfield also brings an interesting flavor to Andersonville. This shop has been described as "Ralph Lauren meets a Paris flee market" by owner Julie Fernstrom. If you love plaid this is the shop for you! She offers a variety of wool blankets & found objects of interest. Across the way is Urbanest this is a great place to look for a sofa/sectional at a great deal! They are holding their annual floor sample sale 10-30% off. Take a look online. Andersonville also has some great antique stores if you like antiquing and sifting through stuff! Going South a little on Clark you'll run into Patina. This small quaint store offers industrial style carts, pottery, harvest tables, and mid-century items. I was in love with this steel table that was for sale in the front window, it is the perfect size for my small condo! I hope it goes on sale.

I then proceeded into George Lowell which offers great accessories, side tables, artwork, and mirrors. This is a great shop for you if you like instant gratification. I picked up an interesting dried root for a vase at home for a mere $10.00. Last Stop for the day was Foursided an artsy frame shop which has fun cards and vintage art. I got a fun gift for my friends birthday this weekend.
*After a long day of shopping & research I still didn't make it to the Museum to see Green Home. But that is still on the list & i'll have to take another Design Break very soon!
